McAfee SIG is a member of the McAfee Secure Content Management family of appliances which also includes specialised solutions for large enterprises - Secure Messaging Gateway and Secure Web Gateway.

Unparalleled Anti-spyware - McAfee SIG includes McAfee's award-winning anti-spyware technology. McAfee SIG filters HTTP and FTP traffic to protect your network against spyware, adware, dialers, keyloggers and backdoors. McAfee SIG uses the same highly accurate pattern files as the desktop security product, McAfee Anti-Spyware Enterprise, to block known threats before they enter your network. The option Web filtering module provides a second layer of protection against spyware.

In-Depth Anti-virus - McAfee SIG is based on the same anti-virus technology as the desktop product, McAfee® Active VirusScan®. The heart of McAfee anti-virus is an engine that blocks known and unknown viruses, protecting you against zero-day attacks and new virus threats. McAfee SIG protects inbound and outbound email that use SMTP and POP3 protocols and it protects Web traffic using HTTP, FTP adn ICAP protocols.

Advanced Email Content Filtering - What if you could protect against inappropriate content coming into your network, as well as guard against sensitive information leaving your network? McAfee SIG's built-in email content filtering can prevent both. With lexical scanning of emails and more than 300 types of attachments, McAfee SIG can block or modify messages that contain specific words or phrases that violate a content rule.

Anti-spam & Anti-phishing - McAfee's anti-spam module is completely integrated with McAfee SIG and is available via an optional license. The anti-spam module uses multiple highly sophisticated techniques to detect and block spam and phishing attacks: integrity analysis, heuristic detection, content filtering, blacklist and whitelist support, DNS blocklist support and Bayesian filtering. Streaming updates ensure your protection is always up-to-date. Users can obtain daily digests of the messages that have been blocked as spam and they can also administer their spam quarantine and manage their own blacklists and whitelists.

Web filtering module - McAfee's web filtering module lets you block web pages that are unrelated to your business in order to preserve bandwidth, reduce business risk and legal liability and improve employee productivity. The module is completely integrated with McAfee SIG and is available via an optional license. It includes a comprehensive database containing over 6 million URLs, updated daily and grouped into 69 URL categories and 10 user-defined categories for flexible policy enforcement options.

Comprehensive Easy to Use Management - McAfee SIG includes a built-in browser-based management system, it can also be managed by McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO). McAfee ePO allows you to centrally manage gateway devices as well as desktop systems for all your key security measures such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing and web filtering solutions.

Market Leading Performance - McAfee SIG runs on the McAfee SCM 3100 appliance designed for businesses up to 500 users; it scans 60,000 SMTP messages per hour and scans web traffic at 25 Mbps. The McAfee SCM 3200 appliance is designed for businesses between 250 and 1000 users; it will scan 120,000 SMTP messages per hour and scans web traffic at a rate of 50 Mbps.

Enterprises larger that 1000 users may wish to consider McAfee's specialised appliances, Secure Messaging Gateway and Security Web Gateway.
